Fall is in the air, and we have some great suggestions on where to celebrate the season. If you are looking for exciting and fun pumpkin patches in the area here are farms and farm stands worth checking out in Northern Virginia. Most have loads of pumpkins to choose from along with fun activities for the kids, like corn mazes, spook houses, hayrides, and jumping pillows.

FAIRFAX COUNTY

Burke Nursery and Garden Center

Cox Farms

The market will be open Thursday through Mondays from September 24 through November 7 from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM. Krop’s Crops

Krop’s is located at 11110 Georgetown Pike, Great Falls, Virginia. Open daily 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM. Fall festivities begin in September and run through November. Meadows Farms

Fall festivities begin September and run through October. There will be plenty of activities, spooky areas, and lots of pumpkins. Be on the lookout for the giant Scarecrow at the entrance. Air and Scare @ Udvar-Hazy (Air & Space Museum)

Crooked Run Orchard

Located at 37883 East Main Street, Purcellville, Virginia. Seasonal fruit and vegetable stand open Friday through Sundays 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Farmer John’s Wayside Stand

Great Country Farms

There is something for kids of all ages. Ride the cow train, solve the giant mazes, Cow Pie Putt Putt, farm play area, fishing pond, farm animals, the Pumpkin Jumping Pillow, hayrides and more! Temple Hall Farm Regional Park

15855 Limestone School Road, Leesburg, Virginia. Fall Festival and Farm Pumpkin Patch held 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily October 1-31. Pick your own pumpkin, snap photos in the sunflower fields, take a wagon ride around the farm, bounce on inflatable pillows, slide down the hill slides and more. Leesburg Animal Park-Pumpkinville Fall Festival

Fall festival and Pumpkin Village activities begin September 17 through November 6. Enjoy Pumpkinville hill slides, pony rides, hay mazes, moon bounce, wagon rides, pedal carts daily. Weekends include Pumpkin Pillow Bounce, Live Entertainment, Face Painting, and Zip lining. There is a Halloween Costume Contest on October 30. Hill High Farms – The Pumpkin Patch

933 Barley Lane, Winchester, Virginia. A 100-year-old working farm in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. The pumpkin patch is open each Saturday and Sunday beginning September 24 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM through October 30. Nighttime events are held during the month of October every Friday and Saturday night from 7:00 – 10:00 PM. The Pumpkin Patch can accommodate small groups as well as private tours. Activities include large corn maze, hayrides (daytime and nighttime), the best haunted house in the valley, a petting zoo, straw maze, and play area. Mark-Miller Orchards Farm Market & Bakery

Apple Harvest Festival— “Everything Apples” takes place Saturday and Sunday (October 8-9) with pick-your-own apples in multiple varieties. Stribling Orchard

11587 Poverty Hollow Lane, Markham, Virginia. Fall hours begin Wednesday September 7. They are closed Monday and Tuesday, but open Wednesdays through Sundays from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. The Stribling Family is the sixth generation to farm the land. They invite you to come and enjoy a day in the country. Relax, bring a picnic, enjoy breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and visit historic buildings on the farm. Stop by the Harvest House to pick up fresh baked goods, cider, honey, jams, jellies, salsas, hot sauces, local cheese, and eggs. And don’t forget to pick up a pumpkin—they have all shapes and sizes! Wayside Farm

Wayside Farm is located at 5273 Harry Byrd Highway (Route 7), Berryville, Virginia. Opening day for the 2022 Fall Festival is September 24, Thursdays through Sunday. They provide a family-friendly space for kids and kids at heart to explore all the excitement of the real working farm. You will find your perfect pumpkin or walk through the 10-acre corn maze (map provided), bounce on the jumping pillow, take a hayride, or climb the hay mountain. Yankey Farms

11812 Bristow Road, Bristow, Virginia is the location of the Pumpkin Patch and all fall activities. Opens October 1 through October 30. Hours are Fridays and Saturdays from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and Sundays and Columbus Day from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Fall activities include Corn Maze, Hayrides, Cow Train, Animal exhibits and Kids Play Area at the cost of $6 per person.
